Abstract

The task of dividing crop bases, quotas and allotments when farms are divided and transferred is a significant and often an important part of the property transaction. The division of bases, quotas and allotments is governed by statute and regulation. Ideally, the rules should be reviewed before final agreement is reached on land transfer and before a contract is executed if there are bases, quotas and allotments involved that are economically important.
