Description

Social inequalities are often thought of as inexistent in the globalized world. This project looks at anthropological observations in a sense of new class boundaries. The purpose of this project is to establish symbols of inequality within current day society. My project is constructed within the frameworks of Pierre Bourdieu’s habitus and field. Some of the constructs of class that are exposed within my project are on the biological level between gender and race as well as in consumer’s everyday lives through items such as the television and the automobile. Social inequalities remain in place because they establish boundaries within class; evolving, adapting and changing, even if they are unrecognizable due to our habitus.
