Abstract

The state of Mississippi was once rich in its natural resources, especially in timber. Much of the virgin timber has been removed. Governor Whitfield in his inaugural address urged the citizens to get back of a movement to inaugurate a system of reforestration. The state is rich in species of trees which will make valuable timber, and much of the state can never be used for agricultural purposes.
