Abstract

Feature extraction is the main objective of almost every signal analysis program. Many useful feature extraction methodologies and associated algorithms exist and almost all of them are very complex. In general, the algorithms used in signal processing systems are generally very difficult to alter after they have been coded. Only a few highly trained specialists with a deep understanding of the code are able make use of a signal processing algorithm in a manner other than its original purpose because the signal processing knowledge is completely embedded in the code of the algorithm.
