Abstract

Instructional coaching has been a practice that has improved professional development and teacher learning for many years. Historically academics and social emotional learning have been considered separately when developing professional development and supports. With the new implementation of MTSS in educational settings, the need for instructional coaches who understand academics as well as social emotional learning strategies has arisen. This paper focuses on the components of an effective coach and the importance of effective coaches to support PBIS in schools.
