Even the frugal Iowa State coed may well be astounded at the economy of attending school in Virginia in the seventeenth century. Unbelievable as it may sound, Peggy, whose accounts were so carefully preserved and printed in Godey's Lady's Book and Magazine in 1656, spent a year at a fashionable Richmond school for the complete sum of what would now equal about 18 dollars!

During the past few years many changes have come about in ideas regarding child rearing. For example, Dr. Walter Ramsay, Director of The Children's Hospital, St. Paul, Minnesota, said in a recent article, "Only a few years ago, doctors as well as people generally thought that babies up to one year should be fed exclusively on milk, and that if they accidentally got hold of and ate an uncooked vegetable or fruit during their first two years they would probably be sick."

The fifteenth annual meeting of the American Dietetics Association was held in the Hotel Pennsylvania at New York City Nov. 6-10. Iowa State College was represented by dean Genevieve Fisher and by Miss Miriam E. Lowenberg of the Child Development and Foods and Nutrition staffs.

Two hundred and eighty one out of 313 new women students at Iowa State this year, are afflicted to some degree with anemia, hospital authorities report, and only 32 of this number are said to be normal in this matter.
