"The Use of Objective Devices in Teaching Foods to Ninth Grade Girls" is the subject for a study made by Miss Margaret Louise Martens and submitted as a thesis for the degree of Master of Science in Home Economics at Iowa State College last summer.

A full grown sneeze, echoing like a battle horn from somewhere in the distance, disturbed the early morning hush along our street. Then another, and another. Finally the perpetrator strolled into view, a block down the street, innocently unaware that he was the center of anyone's. interest, or worse, the object of anyone's homicidal intent.

Margaret Ericson, '27, is with the National Dairy Council, in Chicago. She writes: "The organization, you know, is one which deals with health education and child welfare. Much work is done with schools and we keep a large amount of material for teachers. In the office I do various things such as writing an occasional nutrition article, hunting scientific data, working out health projects, and at present I am working on a new catalogue.

"Every Home Economics teacher who is teaching clothing construction work with seventh grade girls is confronted with several questions regarding the problem of basting. Should students be taught to baste from the beginning of their construction work? Should they be taught to baste on all construction processes? If there are certain construction processes in the making of which they should use basting, what are these processes?"
