Abstract

The common mole of Iowa known also as ''garden mole," "prairie mole" and "ground mole" is often classed as a pest, though frequently the damage for which it is blamed is caused by mice and other animals which use the mole's runways to reach· their food. Moles may be distinguished from mice, gophers and all other animals by their broad, "baseball mitt'' hands, powerful implements for digging.
