The use and development of mechanical equipment would seem to offer more promise at this time than any other factor in forest fire control. While considerable sums of money are being spent for forest fire prevention, detection and suppression, the personnel responsible for this work in most states and in the United States Forest Service, has apparently refused to spend any considerable amount of money at any one time for experimental work on mechanical fire equipment.
