With the Upper Iowa River at flood stage, 40o weather, and driving winds and rain, l2 brave(?) souls headed for the Kendalville put-in point on the spring canoe trip. Friday night the group camped weather looked even more dismal in the morning the group, of course, went 13 miles. Later, sanity prevailed and the Saturday night cookout was held in a warm kitchen in Ames. The trek was declared a rewarding experience in spite of obstacles.
