While performing the underclassman ritual of scanning the Bessey bulletin board one December day two years ago, I saw a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Notice: Park Tech- G5- 04.05.Duties as follows: Law-enforcement, visitor assistance, patrol of recreation areas by car and boat, other duties as assigned. Til this point I had been flushed by every major resource agency in the United States, and with only volunteer positions to fall back on, the though of a lean fall semester of unpaid utility bills weighed heavily on my mind. I walked down to Dr. Jungst's office, picked up a SF171, typed it up and waited. The Corps officials were to be at a recreation job fair on campus, and that was when I was to make my pitch.
