University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics
5 ft (H) x 5 ft (W)
In the spring of 2005, Chuck was invited by the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics to submit a proposal of four large paintings that would be on permanent display in the Pediatrics Wing. These paintings were to be based on illustrations from Jungle Gym Jitters.
Monkey Bars was the first painting completed, and although it looks as though it could have been in the book, it was designed especially for the hospital. The image plays with perspective, with characters hanging and climbing from every angle so that we're never sure of which way is up (with inspiration from M.C. Escher).
