University Honors Program

The Honors project is potentially the most valuable component of an Honors education. Typically Honors students choose to do their projects in their area of study, but some will pick a topic of interest unrelated to their major.

The Honors Program requires that the project be presented at a poster presentation event. Poster presentations are held each semester. Most students present during their senior year, but may do so earlier if their honors project has been completed.

This site presents project descriptions and selected posters for Honors projects completed since the Fall 2015 semester.

Abstract

Intermodal transportation offers great opportunity for growth in Dubai. This study discusses logistics capabilities at the Jebel Ali Port and the Etihad Rail. The current technological and social factors of Dubai are addressed, including port technology, RFID tracking, and the proposed Hyperloop 2020. Lack of intermodal transportation data was available which created limitations, as discussed in the paper. I recommend three strategies to integrate the Jebel Ali Port into a wider logistics network: (1) Identify RFID productivity in port and rail shipments, (2) configure tracking at node transfers, and (3) execute transportation network plan throughout the GCC.
