University Honors Program

The Honors project is potentially the most valuable component of an Honors education. Typically Honors students choose to do their projects in their area of study, but some will pick a topic of interest unrelated to their major.

The Honors Program requires that the project be presented at a poster presentation event. Poster presentations are held each semester. Most students present during their senior year, but may do so earlier if their honors project has been completed.

This site presents project descriptions and selected posters for Honors projects completed since the Fall 2015 semester.

Abstract

The International trade of food products is an important part of the food industry and a continuously developing sector. Professionals working with the food industry must identify regulations and ensure that food products to be exported align with regulations of both the United States and the country to trade with. This “Quick Reference Guide of International Trade Regulations on Meat in the Food Industry in the United States, European Union, and Japan” is intended to give the food industry, Extension and Outreach, and academia a reference point when navigating international trade based on regulations in place during 2018. This research specifically focuses on non-poultry meat products to be traded between the United States and the European Union as well as the United States and Japan. First, the reference guide outlines responsibilities of relevant governing bodies and explains important legislation and laws for these products. The reference guide also explains terminology commonly used when international trade is discussed and provides links to further information and helpful resources. This reference guide will help professionals understand and navigate the complicated processes of international trade.
