Abstract

Each growing season has unique weather conditions that exert a strong influence on diseases. The prominent weather conditions that contributed to disease problems in Iowa com in 1998 were: an unusually mild winter, very wet weather in June, and drier-than-normal conditions late in the season. The early spring was also very wet, which affected planting dates and caused some seedling disease problems, but not on a widespread basis.
