As a result of COVID-19, Harford County Public Schools tasked educators with developing a curriculum for virtual instruction. Floral Design is a course that is considered to be a Career and Technical Education class with an emphasize on hands-on learning. It is recognized that the foundation of this course is a combination of both plant science and art concepts. Prior to COVID-19, there was a pre-existing need to align the course with both agriculture and art standards. The creation of the Floral Design Virtual Instruction Scope and Sequence provides evidence in support of Floral Design becoming a course to complete both the art and agriculture pathway, rather than being only an elective class. Additionally, it opens communication with school leadership for the establishment of a second level course in the Floral Design sequence (Floral Design II).
