Abstract
When California orchard growers implement scientific methods of irrigation scheduling, crop yields and quality can improve leading to greater profitability. There are numerous user friendly irrigation scheduling tools designed to be timely and efficient for irrigation managers. Tools such as Atmosphere Based and Soil Based approaches aim to answer the question surrounding quantity of water used by the crop while Plant Based approaches typically center around irrigation interval. By effectively timing irrigations growers can maximize water use, improve crop quality, and increase orchard longevity. California orchard growers can ensure they are efficiently scheduling irrigations by adopting and leveraging two of these three tools in their orchard management.
