Abstract

May in Iowa started with welcome showers and just a bit below average temperatures. As of May 7, approximately 85 to 90 percent of corn was planted and soybean planting is fully gearing up. For the record, normal daily degree day accumulations for the second week of May range from about 9 in northern Iowa to 11 in southern Iowa.
