Abstract
Veterinary supervision of winter management programs for sheep flocks may greatly reduce lamb death losses, reported the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). On average, 15 to 20 percent of lambs nationwide die prior to weaning--the vast majority within the first ten days of life. "With good management programs, some flocks have reduced lan1b death loss to as low as one or two percent," said Robert Ashley Robinson, D.V.M., M.P.H., Ph.D., University of Minnesota, St. Paul.
