Abstract

A boundary collocation scheme based on Wilson solution for an internal crack was developed for use in half fringe photoelastic analysis of mixed mode SIFs. The scheme was used to obtain the stress intensity factors for a number of near boundary cracks of different angles and different distances to the surface. The influence of both the crack angle and the crack tip distance to crack length ratio on the SIFs were studied.
