Abstract
Nutrient management from manure is important for multiple reasons. • To avoid water contamination • Take advantage of available nutrients on farm • Reduce off farm costs Each farm needs to tailor their manure plan to their farm. Currently Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plans (CNMPs) are much more complex than many farms need. The time commitment and cost can discourage many farmers from participating in this unless they are required to by the government either due to size or wanting to partake in a program. This doesn’t mean that there cannot be a plan in place to prevent excessive nutrient loss from incorrect application of manure.
