Abstract

Artists’ books, travel brochures, magazines, art zines and various other publication designs can inspire and engage people from many different backgrounds. Publication design is the art of visual communication and creativity is needed to enhance a viewer’s experience by considering how to engage more than just one of the senses. Through the incorporation of touch, sight, and sound, we can leave lasting impressions that engage an audience and encourage them to explore.

“As I Pace” reflects my own thoughts and experiences of that which I found mundane, beautiful, and charming within the countries of Italy, Spain, and Morocco. The objective of this project is to create a fun and interactive experience that would connect to other travel enthusiasts and present the feel of exploration to those who may or may not have been to these places. Through literature review, prototyping, and graphic design, “As I Pace” is created to present the wonder of a place, and the memories I gained from exploring these beautiful countries.
