Abstract

Wind is an important source of clean, renewable energy. In 2008, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) emphasized the need for better understanding of wind fields at the wind farm level , which would contribute to improvements in wind power forecasting and increase the viability of wind power as an alternative energy source This work addresses issue in wind speed forecasting, bivariate wind speed and direction forecasting, and spatial modeling of wind speed.
