Download Full Text
There again are no new herbicides with novel mechanisms of action and none are anticipated in the near future. Weed management issues were very evident in 2017 and weed populations with evolved resistance(s) to herbicides continued to escalate statewide. Palmer amaranth populations have been identified in many new Iowa counties and it is likely that populations will eventually be identified in all Iowa counties. Weed management remains a major concern for Iowa agriculture and addressing these burgeoning problems requires greater diversity of tactics beyond herbicides.
