Toxicity of Common Lawn, Garden, and Ornamental Pesticides in Iowa

By design, pesticides are toxic to the target pests. Insecticides target insects and mites, herbicides target weeds, and fungicides target plant pathogens. In general, the quicker a pest problem is solved the better, but anyone considering the use of a pesticide should be aware of the potential harm the chemical could pose to themselves or the environment.
