The Iowa State University Research and Demonstration Farms seek to study the differences in land, climate, and agricultural enterprises in the various regions of Iowa. It consists of 33 farms and land-plots owned by Iowa State University, and 36 farms and land-plots owned by other associations in conjunction with the university.

History
The oldest Research and Demonstration farm owned directly by the university (Horticultural Station) was founded at the university's creation in 1859. The oldest farm owned by another association in conjunction with the university was founded in 1930 (Northern Research and Demonstration Farm).
