No longer is washday the hub of the homemaker's work week as it was not too long ago. Modern appliances, new detergents, water softeners and the easy-care fabrics all have contributed to brightening up "Blue Monday."
Different sources of evidence indicate that large farms, in general, are more efficient than smaller ones. The causes and effects, however, are less clear. Size alone isn't the only factor involved. Other factors include kind of farming, soil and topography, kind of management and differences among operators.
This article reports the findings from a survey of central-Iowa landlords and tenants about the leases being used, how they came to be, how the rents or shares were decided, and possible changes being considered.
