Most plant diseases in 1965 will not be new, but some will cause substantial losses while cause substantial losses while others will be minor in importance. We can safely predict that diseases such as soybean bacterial blight, corn stalk rot, Dutch elm disease and apple fire blight will occur. But their severity depends upon a combination of weather, infectious organisms, and the disease preventive measures used by the people who grow plants.
