About July 5 last summer we began getting long distance calls, letters and personal visits from communities that had a spraying program for fly control. Farmers came in to visit us, county extension directors called or came to Ames, all with the same story: Buildings had been sprayed and food handling establishments had been treated, but there were still lots of flies.
