Abstract
Extreme drouth conditions over much of the Southwest and high wintering costs over all range areas produced a large liquidation of feeder cattle, beginning in late September. This liquidation severely depressed prices of stocker and feeder cattle. It makes possible better margins on feeding operations during the coming feeding season than seemed likely in August.
