University Honors Program

The Honors project is potentially the most valuable component of an Honors education. Typically Honors students choose to do their projects in their area of study, but some will pick a topic of interest unrelated to their major.

The Honors Program requires that the project be presented at a poster presentation event. Poster presentations are held each semester. Most students present during their senior year, but may do so earlier if their honors project has been completed.

This site presents project descriptions and selected posters for Honors projects completed since the Fall 2015 semester.

Abstract

Due to various changes facing the healthcare industry today, information technology advancements need to be implemented in order to guarantee a successful future. The purpose of this research is to expand one’s knowledge about the healthcare industry as well as the emerging trends and technologies today. After analyzing the research from both scholarly and practitioner articles, predictions of risks, opportunity, and the future of the industry were formed. Some of the trends discussed in this report include the value-based care model, the increased focus on remote patient care, and the payment reform. Internet of Things (IoT), consumer-facing technology, and the increase use of the cloud has been shown to directly help prepare healthcare providers and organizations for what challenges 2017 and beyond will bring to the industry.
