Abstract

A studyY of the records of the Stange Memorial Clinic at Iowa State College for the years 1948-49 shows a total of 27 cases of fractures of the long bones in dogs in which the technic of intramedullary pinning was employed therapeutically. The purpose of this article is to list these cases, to note the results obtained, and to draw some conclusions from these results. The technic of the operation does not fall within the scope cf this article, except where variations therefrom warrant mention. For these readers not familiar with the operation as done at this institution, the reading of detailed case reports published in this and preceding issues of this publication is recommended.
