Rotavirus Infections in Swine
( 1978) Schwartz, Kent ; Glock, Robert ; Iowa State University Digital Repository

Advances in meat animal production in the last twenty years are unprecedented in the history of agriculture. Despite the intensive research in medicine and animal health, disease continues to contribute tremendous economic loss in animal production by direct death loss, decreased feed efficiency, and longer production time. Enteritis of various etiologies, especially in the neonate, is probably the most visible in terms of death loss, and paradoxically, also one of the most insidious causes of economic loss in subclinical cases or cases of permanent intestinal dysfunction.

Not only is it simple to perform, but it also plays a vital role in screening patients, in establishing differential diagnoses, and in following the history of a disease and the effect of treatment.

( 1978) Erdman, Lynn ; Iowa State University Digital Repository

Sarcocysts have been observed in skeletal muscle of the striped skunk, Mephitis mephitis, but have bot been described. Neitz, 1965, described a sarcocystis in a South African mustelid, Mellivora capensis, but little is known of Sarcocystis spp. in North American mustelids to date.
