Description

Characterizing images as redundant waveforms is not a new concept and neither is modeling autocorrelated signals by linear prediction [1,2]. By encoding image waveforms as prediction error samples, it is possible to obtain better signal reconstructions for a given coding rate than by encoding the original waveforms. Similarly, it is possible to reduce the coding rate for a given level of SNR [3].
