Description

Smart structures are the structures with built in sensors similar to the nervous systems of living creatures. Electronic, optical, or mechanical sensors can be used in the smart structures as long as they can be built into the structure. Thus, the type of structure is a controlling feature to determine the type of sensors which can be built in. In this paper, aerospace structures made of graphite/epoxy composite fibers are the type of structures to be addressed.
