Description

NDE techniques are widely used by jet engine manufacturers to guarantee the quality of materials and critical parts, such as fan, compressor and turbine disks. New “fail-safe” concept of structural design, which assumes presence of defects below a certain size, requires not only detection of flaws but also their evaluation in order to determine if they could lead to a catastrophic rupture of the part during its life. So, NDE methods need to be reliable and reproducible.
