The globalization of manufacturing and construction markets is broadening the range of inspection standards that might be specified for a product, and we should prepare by learning more about the various organizations that develop such standards. This paper describes the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), several other national and international standards organizations, and their interactions during the development and revision of standards for nondestructive evaluation (NDE).
