Commercial nuclear power plants in Japan run with higher safety standards because of the high reliability. Eddy current testing (ECT) plays a crucial role in inspection of steam generator (SG) tubes in pressurized water-type nuclear power plants during their periodic shutdowns. Studies for the development of this technique have been performed on such topics as measurement apparatus and probe design, numerical modeling, and signal processing.
