This is a collection of fiction-five short stories and a novella-that tell stories about boys as young as twelve and about grown men as old as late middle-age. The stories' settings range from Pennsylvania to Ohio to rural Utah, and even to places entirely imagined and unnamed, but each main character experiences a sequence of events that alters the trajectory of his life permanently. This can take the form of the classic "epiphany" story, or the total opposite, which some contemporary writers call "depiphanies." In any event, this is the common link between these main characters and the worlds they populate, and this collection cumulatively represents the dance of these boys and men, each of them alone on the same dance floor, each hearing different music, but each of them brought into close proximity with one another within the pages of this collection.
