Abstract

This research describes a wind energy database that has been developed to advance the understanding of Iowa's wind energy resources and to provide some of the statistical tools necessary for studying the wind energy potential of Iowa. In addition, the objective is to provide a web interface to the wind database that can be used to do resource-cost analysis of Iowa. The web site allows the user to obtain maps of the wind energy resource from 1996 to 1999. Thirteen sites of data which are available as raw data (as collected) and as quality controlled data. Correlation studies have been conducted for all the sites. In addition, techniques developed to patch missing data are reported. Microsite analysis was also conducted for a candidate Iowa site (Estherville).
