The SafePork conference series began in 1996 to bring together international researchers, industry, and government agencies to discuss current Salmonella research and identify research needs pertaining to both pig and pork production. In subsequent years topics of research presented at these conferences expanded to include other chemical and biological hazards to pig and pork production.

Abstract
The purpose of this meeting is to bring together as many investigators and parties interested in the field of salmonellosis in pigs to facilitate an open discussion of where we are and where we need to be going. While the tilte "Ecology of Salmonella in Pork Production" is all eoncompassing, all aspects of production impact on the quality of the product as it moves through to presentation at the table.
