The SafePork conference series began in 1996 to bring together international researchers, industry, and government agencies to discuss current Salmonella research and identify research needs pertaining to both pig and pork production. In subsequent years topics of research presented at these conferences expanded to include other chemical and biological hazards to pig and pork production.

Abstract
Exposure to Salmonella spp. results in detectable antibody, and assays have been described to measure this response (Mousing et a!., Gray and Fedorka-Cray). We designed this study to describe the strength of association between potential herd-level risk factors for exposure and/or transmission of Salmonella spp. and the detection of antibodies against Salmonella spp. in commercially produced, slaughter-weight pigs.
